Chiropractic and Exercise Rehabilitation

A visit to our Chiropractic, Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation Clinics in the City of London or Friern Barnet is more than just talking about your symptoms. It's about giving you the tools to live a healthier and better quality of life.

When you come in, we'll talk about what is concerning you and finding out what is the main cause of your problem and then create a plan to help you get on the path to good function and well-being, not just with your physical status but also with your nutrition and your mental health.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic (from the Greek: "Done by hand") is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system in particular of the spine, and the effects of these disorders on the nervous system and general health.
(World Federation of Chiropractic)

Poor, inadequate, or incorrect function in the spine can cause irritation of the nerves that control posture and movement. The spinal nerve stresses (which may be caused by factors such as accidents, poor diet, lack of exercise or sports injuries, repetitive activities, poor posture, and anxiety) can lead to symptoms of discomfort such as back pain, neck pain, joint pain, and headaches.

Chiropractic is an effective and safe approach to attaining a healthy spine. To achieve good health you have to achieve good posture. Forward-leaning head posture is a major problem in our modern society at work and at home. Good posture is as important as exercising and breathing properly, sleeping well, hydrating correctly, and eating adequately. Also, chiropractors can help with other common musculoskeletal conditions.

Chiropractic care involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation or adjustment to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly.
Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of manual therapy techniques including mobilizations, ice, heat, exercises, supportive taping, and electrotherapy as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.

In the UK, since 2001 the title of 'chiropractor' has been protected by law and it is a criminal offence, liable to prosecution, to describe oneself as any sort of chiropractor without being registered with the General Chiropractic Council. Today, there are over 30 chiropractic institutions and over 90,000 chiropractors practicing in more than 88 countries worldwide making Chiropractic one of the largest health care regulated professions. In recent years, The World Health Organisation requested the World Federation of Chiropractic to write a report about the status of the profession.
